Visit Hokkaido

Is May a good month to visit Hokkaido?

Visit Hokkaido

May is a decent month actually. It%26#39;s starting to warm up, and during the early part of May, you might be able to catch the cherry blossoms. Later in May, Furano and Biei will start to spring to life.

What about april?

Nothing wrong with April, but you%26#39;d be between seasons. There are unlikely to be cherry blossoms until the very end of the month if it%26#39;s warm. There wouldn%26#39;t be much snow either and the flowers haven%26#39;t bloomed yet.

May is better. April can be slushy and chilly.

Hi, I went right after the Golden Week and I find everywhere relatively uncrowded, the sakura peak is over in Hokkaido by then but I still managed to catch a bit of the later blooms. For some reason, there was a cold spell when I was there and temperatures plunged to about 4-7 degrees. It was really cold for me so I think it is best not to underestimate the weather, esp when we are from sunny tropical Singapore. Night time is really cold though.

But there is still plenty of sunshine and greenery about, we managed to see tulips and some spring flowers in bloom.
