Tokyo is just about always safe so I wouldn%26#39;t worry much about safety. Balance your hotel choice with your budget and the hotel%26#39;s location. Being near a station that is a hub (like Shinjuku, Shimbashi/Ginza, etc) is a good choice.

If you don%26#39;t mind basic, Toyoko Inn is always a good choice, usually around 9,000 Yen for a double. Book early to get the type of rooms you want.
