What do to in the evenings in Kyoto...Kabuki theatre? food?

Hi - Can anyone recommend evening/night activities in Kyoto such as Kabuki theatres, good restaruants, or fun bars/karaoke? Anything else thats cool in Kyoto at night?

You could go to Osaka for one evening, if it%26#39;s not on your itinerary already. Hang out in Namba and Dotonbori. If you can, try to get ahold of Anthony Bourdain%26#39;s ';No Reservations'; when he went to Osaka; it%26#39;s pretty entertaining and informative.

Good luck!

Yes, I have Osaka in the itinerary, an entire day actually. Is that too much?

No; most people don%26#39;t give Osaka enough time. It%26#39;s a great city. I don%26#39;t know what your plans are for Osaka, but make sure to take a walk around the Osaka Castle park. The castle itself is good (not as good as Himeji, but still worth a visit), but I love the park.

Here is a variety of venues, traditional and less so:

You could check the websites of Kansai Scene magazine and Japanzine, but you are better off trying to pick up free copies of these monthly magazines, especially if you are in town during the first half of the month. (The mags are hard to find later in the month when people take them all.) These mags have good maps in them and adverts of lots of bars %26amp; clubs, but these maps %26amp; ads are not on their websites!
