Scuba diving in Japan

I will be in Japan (Tokyo) next month and am wanting to get a days diving in. I need to know where the best place would be to go to. I will need to hire a complete set of kit on the day. I look forward to any advice.

Thanks

Rob

Scuba diving in Japan

which part of Japan you are coming? Best spot for diving is in Okinawa. Around Tokyo, we have lots of place(Shizuoka pref. or islands in Tokyo) to dive but i don%26#39;t recommend you to go for spending a day for it. Hachijo island and Izu island have some nice point to dive if you must go somewhere around Tokyo. I%26#39;m not sure they are friendly for English speaker.

One day is difficult from Tokyo but take a 2 or 3 day weekend, overnight Friday ferry Tokyo -%26gt; Hachijo-jima stay at Beachtime riokan and dive with Amenes Divers.

Limited but serviceable English, nice people. Sobue-san at Amenes knows the place inside out.

Fly back last plane Mon or Tue night and you%26#39;ll be back at your tiny desk next morning fresh as a hibiscus.

Google Hachijo Beachtime and hachijo Amenes

Wish I was there

Ishigaki-jima, but its pretty far away from Tokyo, near Taiwan.

There is some diving around the Izu Peninsula, but I don%26#39;t know much about it. Local international schools do diving training there.

Izu peninsula OK for a day but usually many hours in traffic and often crazy queues to get into the water - Hachijo much more civilised - sleep on the ferry overnight and arrive in time for a three-dive day!

Anywhere but Okinawa will still be cold.

Hi, Rob.

Okinawa is one of the best dive spots in the world!

Specially Ishigaki and Miyako or Kerama Islands are wonderful. Try this website, you might find some useful information.

It is worth taking few more days to fly there.
