What size luggage for bus travel?

We are taking the Kanazawa bus to Takayama and seek advise on the size of the luggage that we can bring onboard. We intend to bring a bag of %26#39;aircraft cabin%26#39;size ( with wheels %26amp; a telescopic handle ) %26amp; unsure if there is room on the bus ( we heard that some buses have only overheard storage that may be suitable for backpacks, etc.

Thanks!

This line is considered a long-distance intercity bus. It has luggage storage space at the belly of the bus for larger pieces.

When you say cabin size, I assume you mean it can fit as a carry-on? In that case, if the bus is not full, you can even have it with you in the seating area.

I am assuming you don%26#39;t have a JR Pass to use the trains?

Thanks for your feedback. It%26#39;s good to know we%26#39;ll have storage space under the bus.

Yes, we have JR pass. We%26#39;ll be travelling from Kyto to Kanazawa using it and then taking the bus from Kanazawa to Takayama, stopping off at Shirakawa-go for a couple of hours. I aasume the bus is the best way for transport for this ?

If you are stopping at Shirakawa-go, then bus is your only option.

Thanks Sammyfloyd.

Is there anywhere to leave cases when you get off the bus to explore Shirakawa, lockers, holding room, etc?

If there are lockers would you know how big they are?

Thanks

Pam

I have not done this personally, but according to another website that has other traveler%26#39;s experience, Shirakawa-go%26#39;s bus station has small to medium lockers next to the tourist information center. They were able to leave bigger pieces with the staff at the center.

Thanks Sammyfloyd, that is a great help to know there is somewhere to leave our cases.

Cheers

Pam
