We are looking for a guide to show us Kagoshima for 1 day on 15/3/09 when the cruise ship we are on calls in at the Port.
Pick up and return to the ship with day guiding us to the important things to see.
Thank you,
Aussie Ken
Tourist Guide neededHi, AussieKen9
I think your cruise ships organize guided bus tours. But if you/your party want a private tour, I suggest you getting a contact to the volunteer guide association in Kagoshima. An English business school (it%26#39;s not a college/uni but a private business-oriented school)send their staff/students to help cruise ship visitors. My guess is that you%26#39;ll have only to cover entrance fees for attractions and transportation cost (ex. gas fee, ferry).

By the way, cruise ships arrive/depart Marine Port Kagoshima, which is 5 km south to central part of Kagoshima city and you need a car/bus to reach most attractions/shopping places.
Mt. Sakurajima (an active volcano, which you can reach by ferry) and Senganen (Japanese-style landscape garden) are recommendable places. You may try Ashiyu (foot bath onsen)at Hotel Rainbow Sakurajima (for free of charge)or Ryujin Roten Buro (open air onsen) in Furusato Kanko Hotel in Mt. Sakurajima. Ryujin Roten Buro is a mixed genter open air onsen where you can go, wearing a Kimono-like robe. (1050 yen including robe %26amp; towel rental)

For shopping, I recommend Ion Shopping Center near the cruise port rather than Tenmonkan shopping arcade. At Ion, you can find clothes, shoes, household goods, food and local specialities in one place and most shops accept credit cards. When you need yen, you can use Post Office ATM at the corner on the basement floor.

Hi AussieK,
We%26#39;ll be cruising into Kag on 30/4/09. Thinking of catching taxi from dock to shinkansen sta. to Kumamato to check out castle. Please advise as to port taxi availability etc when you can.
Thanks.
