Budget accommodation Tokyo- young couple

We are a young couple seeking budget accommodation approximately $120 p night (all up) in Tokyo.

We prefer private room not a dorm/shared

Any recommendations would be great. Travel time would be early September

Well, I%26#39;ll be in Tokyo on the last week of March with a reservation on the Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku, my average per night will be (taxes included) $119.34.

Check the reviews, it seems the hotel is pretty nice with a good location. I booked through Expedia.com.

Is your budget in AUD or USD? The rate in the last post is a great rate if it%26#39;s double room in USD. However, I don%26#39;t think you%26#39;ll get the equivalent rate in AUD.

A generally good budget business hotel chain is Toyoko Inn. It is clean, basic with small rooms and a simple free breakfast. They also have free internet terminals in the lobby.

Agree with Toyoko inn wholeheartedly, We%26#39;re paying about $130 a night AUD and they have a small but very clean room, friendly staff and free Japanese breakfast. They%26#39;ve been fantastic!

We stayed in possibly the cheapest private room ever at the Tsukuba Hotel which is literally between 5 - 10 mins walk from Ueno station (which is a huge and central station). You can choose from either slightly more expensive western style rooms (ensuite) for 8400 Yen or a Japanese style room (private room but with shared bathroom facilities) for less than 5000 Yen a night.

It doesn%26#39;t have a website - it%26#39;s a business hotel but you can find information about it here

Its very basic, but has air con in the rooms and is so central it%26#39;s great. Most train lines go through Ueno station, so we were able to get anywhere we wanted. The rooms are tiny and not very flash, but if you are young, just after a base point to put your stuff/sleep at night and would prefer to spend your money on experiencing Tokyo like we did, I really recommend it. They have free internet access and are extremely helpful with visitors. There are a couple of cheap restaurants very close and there is a great market area just near Ueno station (again, walking distace) where there are heaps of cheap places to eat, have a few drinks, etc. I don%26#39;t think I am selling the hotel very well, but we really enjoyed it!!!

How about Hotel Lonestar and Hotel Sutton Place? They are both conveniently located. In general, all hotels in Japan are safe and clean, regardless of budget.

Check the bed size. In Japan, there are ';semi double'; beds that are really not big enough for two persons.

This website is very useful, but be sure to check how centrally located the hotels are:

Check the properties of the Villa Fontaine chain too. You will need to increase your budget a bit, but it%26#39;s worth it:

These hotels offer complementary breakfast and Internet services. In this way, you will save quite a lot of money in Tokyo.
