Getting to Odaiba, and what time?

What is the easiest way these days? Is catching the Yurikamome from Shimbashi still the most pleasant way? Going across the bridge seems like a nice thing to do.

Also, what time of day should we go there? Are things there open in the evenings or should we go in the afternoon to see whatever it is there that we want to see? Also, is everything there all in the same general area or is it huge and we%26#39;ll need to find a mode of transportation to get from one spot to another?

Getting to Odaiba, and what time?

It depends which part of Tokyo are you coming from?

Here is a train map of odaiba:

The Yurikamome is a nice way to travel as you go over the rainbow bridge and the views are spectacular.

The Rinkai Line is easy since you can sometimes go direct from places like Ikebukuro, Shinjuku, Shibuya (because the Rinkai Line shares some trains with the JR Saikyo Line).

As for what to see, it depends on what you are planning to see, some of it is bunched together, and its possible to walk if you like walking, other parts might be far from each other. Anycase, study the maps and check out what might the best solution for you.

Also theres some rail passes you might want to use as well:

Personally I%26#39;ve taken the Rinkai line from Shinjuku (JR-through service with Rinkai Line) to Tokyo Teleport and walked to the shopping areas from there just fine. But I know many many people like the Yurikamome because you can see more during the trip (the rinkai line is underground, whists the Yurikamome is above ground). I like the Yurikamome too, its great seeing the rainbow bridge and crossing it. Just its just slower and costs more (depending on which part of tokyo you are coming in from), for example from Shinjuku, you have to to either the long wy on the yamanote line or the quick way cutting across on the Chuo Line, then connecting to the JR keihin tohoku or yamanote line to shimbashi then changing to the yurikamome at shimbashi.

If you ride the Rinkai line, its a little easier because the Rinkai line has agreements with JR to share trains and tracks, so one can get on at Shinjuku station or Shibuya on the Saikyo line and go direct to Odaiba (Tokyo Teleport station), if no direct trains, a quick transfer at Osaki station is used.

As for the evening, the view from Odaiba looking at Tokyo is amazing, it depends on how late, but early evening things are still open.

Getting to Odaiba, and what time?

a way from Shinjuku/shibuya to Odaiba by Rinlai line is exopensive than using Yurikamome line from Shinbashi. and Yurikamome is more scenic during riding it so that I everytime choose using Yurikamome wherever i start my jorney in Tokyo.

Odaiba has some shoppong/ amusement complexs. Most things you can walk btw them but you need to get a ride if you like to visit Oedo-Onsen monogatari.

Dinner time, some restaurants have view of Tokyo illumination (Tokyo tower, buildings and Rainbow bridge).

Odaiba needs about 3/4 of a day if you plan to see everything. I suggest you go there after lunch, do all the sightseeing, and have dinner afterwards to enjoy the view.

You can walk from one attraction to the next. However, the area is quite spread out so it can be tiring.

Not exactly true!

Here are the facts if you like to review them:

Shinjuku to Tokyo Teleport via JR and Rinkai Line - 480 yen (160 for the JR Part 320 for the Rinkai Line part), plus its 10-15 minutes faster with 0-1 transfers, there some direct trains that require no transfers.

Shinjuku to Daiba Station via Yurikamome Line - 500 yen (190 yen for the JR part, 310 for the Yurikamome Line part) with 1-2 transfers.

%26gt;Tokyosubway,

yes you are right, I thought to Shinkiba station in mind when i posted above. sorry.

If you use the Yurikamome, you can get a one-day pass for 800 yen or the Odaiba-Ariake Excursion Pass (GURURI KIPPU) which allows you to ride the YURIKAMOME line, WATER BUS, and RINKAI line as many times as you wish for one day for 900 yen.

hi there...

i went to o daiba on the second day i arrived..got here at 11am and spent a full full day, and boy is it fun!!

you def need a full day here

i went via underground at first...then when we left... there`s a stop bewtween pallete town and i think decks...theres a direct train to shinjuku in about 30 minutes which was alot more convenient!!!

if we have time left we are going back!!

we managed to win 5 teddies all exceeding the size of our suitcases

and yes we have bought a extra luggage to take it back with us

oh yeah...the grab a teddy machine are good!!

not like the ones here in uk where they have no grip...

i dropped three teddies in one go...but be sure to spend alot of money...

grab a teddy is 100 yen a go and 500 yen for 6 goes

The underground station mentioned by the previous poster is the Rinkai Line Tokyo Teleport station. Coming in from Western side of Central Tokyo its a good way to access odaiba though since its underground you don%26#39;t get to see the fantastic views by taking the Yurikamome. Its a trade off, depends on how you want to travel I guess.

I always take Yrikamome-Line from Shinbashi when I go to Odaiba or from Odaiba to Shinbashi. In that way, I can enjoy scenery around Odaiba, rainbow bridge, and Tokyo bay. In Odaiba, there are several small parks that you can enjoy taking a walk.

There is free shattle bus going arond Odaiba area. When I become tired I catch a free shuttle bus. This map is written in Japanese, but I think that you can get an idea where you can find the free shuttle bus and where it goes around.

As our hotel is Sunshine City Prince in Ikebukuro, just short walk to Yurakucho-line, it seems easier to go to Toyosu and take the Yurikamome from there.

Otherwise we must walk further go to Ikebukuro-station for taking the Yamanote-line to Shimbashi. Can we take Yurikamome from both sides, so Shimbashi and Toyosu, to take full round ? And how long is the walk from Toyosu to Shimbashi ?

Thanks, Otto.
