where do you recommend for kids

Hi

I%26#39;m looking at going here in 2010. We love Disney, so that is 1 reason for coming, as we want to experience teh Disney park. I appreciate that one park is very much like another, and that most of the shows are in Japnesse.

Also my DH came to Japan years ago and loved the place.

Can you recommend places to visit that my DS will enjoy, he will be 11. One thing I know he would love is to go on the bullet train.

We will be based in Toyko, but could visit other places and stay overnight. After all this would be a once in a lifetime trip.

Hi, Heatherbelle,

Look into a book titled ';Kids%26#39; Trips in Tokyo -- A Family Guide to One-Day Outings'; published by Kodansha International. ISBN4-7700-2040-6 It%26#39;s a book geared for local ex-pats in the Tokyo area, and might answer some of your questions.

Disney has two theme parks -- Disney Land and Disney Sea (the only one in the world). You%26#39;ll want to go to both, as they are quite different. Plus, they sell goods at both places which are uniquely Tokyo Disney Resorts. Yes, the shows are in Japanese, but you won%26#39;t even realize it! The smiles and the dances are the same everywhere.

Bullet train? By all means, take the Nozomi (the fastest train) and go to Kyoto for a few days. Your son won%26#39;t be bored. There%26#39;s a ';Movie Land'; theme park in Uzumasa.

Happy planning!

I suggest taking the bullet train to Osaka and taking your son to Universal Studios Japan: http://www.usj.co.jp/e/

Would be a great day for an 11-year old.

LOVE TDL and TDS - you%26#39;ll have a great time.

You could introduce your son to Studio Ghibli animated films - say: ';Laputa, castle in the sky'; - as this is quite a rollocking, fun, fast paced film. then you could go to Studio Ghibli museum in Tokyo. http://www.ghibli-museum.jp/en/
