hot spring

Planning to Sapporo for a weekend in March, anybody can recommend a hotspring with ocean view. Thanks

hot spring

Sapporo is more than 20 km from the ocean, so there are no hot springs with ocean views here.

In Ishikari, the harbor town immediately to the north, there%26#39;s Banya-no-Yu hot spring. That%26#39;s the closest one.

Unfortunately, Ishikari is an industrial harbor, so the view isn%26#39;t particularly lovely.

If you walk north from Banya-no-Yu about 15 minutes north, you get to Ishikari-hama (Ishikari Beach), which is a nature preserve at the mouth of the Ishikari River. There%26#39;s a lighthouse and a visitor%26#39;s center that sells rose-flavored ice cream. Walk the boardwalk to see seabirds and dunes with rare plants, including an edible wild plant called hamaboufu. It%26#39;s illegal to pick, but you might see it being sold at the visitor%26#39;s center.

In late March the wind will be howling from the Japan Sea, so dress warmly. The estuary side of the beach (the Ishikari River) is home to an unusual species of freshwater flounder. Also, I seem to remember reading that the Ishikari dunes were home to one of the lagest any colonies in the world, before the port was improved. If you can ignore the port, you%26#39;ll get nice views of the coast southwest of Ishikari and of the moutains west of Sapporo.

A very nice hotel with hot spring with an ocean view is Neuschloss Hotel just west of Otaru. I have stayed there and the rooms are very nice and the view spectacular. Note that Neuschloss is accessible by bus but you have to walk up a hill or by taxi only. It%26#39;s about 10 minutes outside central Otaru.

Thank you, sammy floyd. I think i like this hotel and will contact with them to book it.

thank you very much.

Yes, I%26#39;ve been to the Neuschloos - as a day visitor. The baths look out over the cliffs - and there is also a ';Family Room'; that can be booked for a private group for an hour or so.

If you go as a day visitor I think there is a Lunch and Bath pack offer.

and another idea...it%26#39;s not sea...but 40 mins from Sapporo is Lake Shikotsu - and at Marukoma Onsen you actually can sit IN the lake among rocks.
