best neighborhood to stay in Osaka

Shinosaka would be a train station to get to Takayama.

best neighborhood to stay in Osaka

If you%26#39;re going to take the Ltd. Express Hida, the station is JR Osaka Station. If you%26#39;re taking the Shinkansen to Nagoya and transferring to Hida, you have to go to Shin-osaka Station. There are many hotels around both stations. What is your budget?

we will have a JR pass so we wijll be using the JR train to Takayama - which station is that located at?

our budget is around 15 - 18,000 yen, but we have a corporate rate available to us which makes the more expensive hotels affordable,

so in my budget because of the corporate rate is Ritz Carlton, WEstin, Sheraton Miyoka, ANA crown plaza, Ramada Osaka, NIkko Osaka and Rihga Royal

do you know of any of these hotels? the Ramada, ANA crown palzaa and nikko are the least expensive so if they are nice, they will work for us

if you know of other good hotels, that are modern and more convenient, let me know please.

we arrive very late at night and leave the next morning, so it does not have to be wonderful.

i just found out we willnot have JR passes so we can get to Osaka by bus or tain - whatevber is easier

if we stayed out at the airport since we arrive at 8 PM - would that make sense?

You could catch the train from KIX into Osaka. Taking the Nankai line (approx. 45 mins) to the end of the line would bring you into the Namba area of Osaka where there are plenty of hotel choices. The trains are regular and run until close to midnight. The Namba Oriental and Il Cuore hotels are both well within your budget and minutes from Namba train station. With an advance booking, you may even get a decent price at Swissotel, in which case you wouldn%26#39;t even need to leave Namba station. From here, it%26#39;s an easy journey to the train station you need for Takayama.

Namba is a great place to stay and easy to get to from the airport, but it%26#39;s not near the station you want get to when you go to Takayama next morning.

Among the hotels you listed, the Ritz, Rhiga Royal, Ramada and ANA are fairly close to Osaka Station. Also check out the New Hankyu Hotel. This is a nice hotel with frequent direct airport limobus service and located right next to Osaka Station.

Please note that if you%26#39;re taking the Shinkansen (Bullet Train) you have to go to Shin-osaka Station. A transfer at Nagoya is required in this case. There are also Ltd. Express trains that goes directly from Osaka to Takayama and costs 2,000 yen less than the Shinkansen route. You can take these at either Osaka or Shin-osaka, but looks like there are only two trains a day; 07:59 Hida and 08:58 Shinano departing Osaka Station.

Go to Hyperdia to check the train schedules and fares from both Osaka and Shinosaka. It just depends on whether you are willing to pay a 2,000 fare difference for a faster ride (around 40 minutes) on Shinkansen or stick to the Hida Limited Express for a bit less.

Both stations have many hotels. I recommend you don%26#39;t stay at the airport. Arriving at 8pm is still reasonable to get into the city and save yourself another trip the next morning.

The Il Cuore hotel is hard to find once you get off the train. Its close but not marked very well. Check trip advisor on the hotel you chose and people can give you an update.
