Accomodation: Ueno or Ikebukuro?

Which area is better to stay in? Accesibility, etc. Checked hotels/hostels in both areas and they are about the same price. Undecided on which area to stay in.

Accomodation: Ueno or Ikebukuro?

Ueno has good access from the airport, but its deader then a doorknob in the evening.

Ikebukuro also has decent access from the airport, it is also a hub for many train lines. More things to do in Ikebukuro at night.

Just depends on what type of traveler you are.

Accomodation: Ueno or Ikebukuro?

I agree with tokyosubway%26#39;s assessment regarding the difference between the two areas. I know a lot of people like Ueno because it is quiet and has reasonably priced lodging. If you are a first-time visitor though, I feel Ikebukuro is a better choice because there is much more to see and do, literally just outside the door.

Ikebukuro and Ueno are similar in price. Neither has a significant foreign tourist footprint like Shinjuku, Shibuya or Roppongi. Ueno is extremely convenient to Narita. Ikebukuro has massive amounts of shopping and a moderate amount of interesting things to do. Ueno is more like a small town with small footprint department stores (Matsuzakaya and Marui) where Ikebukuro has a very large footprint Seibu/Parco. You will not believe the size of that place if you go. Ikebukuro is very large and vast in terms of reach of the area. Ueno is small and confined to a limited area.

I prefer Ueno, only because it%26#39;s convenient to the Shinkansen, the Tokaido corridor and the Keihin-Tohoku corridor.

thanks guys for all ur advice. I%26#39;ve decided to stay in the Ikebukuro area and more or less decided on this hotel.

anyone stayed here before or have any advice on the hotel?

The Sun City Hotel is right next to the train station (just outside the north (';kita';) exit). That exit is hard to find, but keep looking until you find the sign. Otherwise, it could be much harder to find the hotel.

I haven%26#39;t stayed at the Sun City Hotel. About 5 blocks north, there are two Toyoko Inn locations (Ikebukuro Kita-Guchi #1 and #2), and I have stayed in both and liked them a lot.

hi, do you mind telling me the price range of Ikebukuro Kita-Guchi #1 and #2?

You can check Toyoko Inn%26#39;s price range and availability here:

It%26#39;s really not hard to find the website yourself.

Y7140 for a single.
