JR green car or economy?

When buying JR 7 day pass in US, the choice is Green car or economy. What is the difference? It is about 25% more for the Green car. Thanks.

JR green car or economy?

Think of it as first class (Green Car) and standard class (economy). Personally, I don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s worth paying the extra 25% for the Green Car. The standard shinkansen carriages are clean, comfortable and have plenty of leg room. Unless money is no object, there%26#39;s absoultely no need to upgrade.

I was always happy with the standard economy cars. If you have tons of luggage, you might want the Green car, since there will be more room.

Just to name a few....

Any case my personal opinion has always been the Ordinary car is just fine. Not all green cars are created equal and they very from minor to great depending on what train you happen to be using.

Ordinary cars have good leg room, much better then economy in airlines, in fact I say ordinary cars in the Shinkansen provide better leg room then domestic first class seats on domestic flights.

There is no difference in the luggage space for green cars vs. ordinary cars in relation to the Shinkansen, the overhead bin size is exactly the same in the ordinary car as it is in the green car, also I%26#39;m not sure how much extra luggage you can squeeze in, as leg room is not too much different in the green car.

What I meant was the Green Car will likely have fewer people, so more room for extra luggage.

Even the standard class compartment has enough room for luggage. The only place to store large bags is behind the last row of each car. However, the space is often not taken so you shouldn%26#39;t have problems.
