Area and accomodation tips for Tokyo

Hi all,

Inital stages of planning for family trip (4 adults) to Japan in September. Where is the best area of Tokyo to stay? We like apartments for the space and self catering ... we can stretch dollar wise from mid-quite good range ...any suggestions? Notice that Trip advisor recommends Oakwood. Indeed any tips re Tokyo would be great. Many thanks,

';Best area'; is a rather impartial. IMO, Shinjuku gives a good overall feel for the city. It%26#39;s also a great transportation hub for getting around Tokyo.

Have just booked last night the Oakwood apartments in Shinjuku. Friends stayed there and they said though they were small they were spotless and terrific location. We need a 3 bedroom apartment and I figure they would be hard to get in Japan so we have jumped in and I feel really pleased with our choice. It is also Trip Advisor%26#39;s top choice so must be fine,

Yes we did get a 3 bedroom and I have to say it was a bit of a hassle as they tell me that they normally only take bookings one month in advance and I wanted the security of a confirmed booking. I actually rang them using skype form the Oakwood website ( google them) and gave them my email address and they emailed me. Hope this helps,
