Taxi from ... to Ueno. How much?

While we are in Tokyo if we happen to stay out late a couple of nights past the time the subway closes how much would we expect to pay for a taxi from the various night club areas back to our hotel near Ueno station? We would be out at a place like Shibuya, Shinjuku, or Roppongi.

It would be somewhere in the 3500~6000+ JPY range, depending on exact locations. If you are in a group its not too bad as you can split costs.

To get a taxi late at night how does one do it? I have read that finding them on the street can be hard after 1 AM but are there taxi lines that you can wait in with other people?

Usually in front of the train stations there will be taxi stands, I know where I live at night the taxi drivers all line up in one giant motorcade in front of the train station.

Finding them is usually easy, you just need to be aggressive like in NYC.
