Hikari Hayatoku Kippu

Understand that getting the Kippu will result in a 10% discount from the Hikari fare from Tokyo to Osaka (one-way) but it has to be purchased at least a week in advance.

Could we get it at the Airport station in Osaka or anyway in Hokkaido? Is there a child fare under the Kippu?

Hello. We are looking at using this service form Kyoto to Tokyo. Is this possible with a JR pass and where do I book it?

If you have a JR pass, why would you want to purchase the additional ticket?

I was under the impression that you need to reserve a seat on this service and it needs to be done at least a week out. Do I not need to reserve a seat if I have a JR pass?

If you%26#39;re travelling on the Japan Railpass, you don%26#39;t need to purchase the %26#39;Hikari Hayatoku Kippu%26#39;(, or %26#39;Hikari early discount ticket%26#39; in English) at all.

A non-reserved seat (except for “NOZOMI” trains on the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen) can be used simply by showing your JAPAN RAIL PASS.

Seat reservations can be made without additional payment. To make a reservation, go to any Travel Service Center or a Reservation Office (Midori-no-madoguchi) at a JR station, or to the sales office of a JR-associated travel agency. There, show your PASS, and obtain your reserved-seat ticket before boarding.

You have an option to make a seat booking before you board the reserved section of the train (e.g. Shinkansen Hikari) besides the other one to board the non-reserved section of the train without booking.
